With a desire for transparency and with the intention of bringing the Administration closer to citizens, the Department of Health mainains and expands this Internet web site; a web site that has been praised by its users and which has become a reference point for health information.  We want this web site to be alive, useful and permanently up to date, to facilitate and help to build the relationship between the Department, citizens, and health professionals.

History 

On the 2nd November of 1998, the Department's first web site  was published. Since then, we have constantly strived to improve, in order to offer a better service to citizens. Contents have continued to evolve and grow and the present sit is a third remodelling. We have become a reference point in the field of the public health, as a model of clear and transparent information for citizens, thanks to the participation of all of the units which form part of our institution.

The growth of visits to the site has proved us us right about our ideas on information. The statistical data backs us up. when we began the site, in November of 1998, our initial idea was to become an information reference point. This has already been attained and even surpassed. Now, we have another challenge, and that is, besides informing, we must increase the degree of participation in our communication with citizens. It is for this reason that we are planning to establish a series of tools that will allow more interaction between users and the web site.

Developing the web site

The web site that you are consulting forms a part of our daily work of constant improvement, of bringing about a tool for consultation and services.

The novelties that we are able to offer consist of:

• The development of a "contents manager", which allows information to be published, maintained and updated directly by the same unit which has generated it, representing a substantial qualitative improvement.
• A single navegation bar, common to all  the web sites of the organizations within the Department of Health .
• An improvement of the structure of the contents, so that the majority of the informationbe can be accessed as quickly and easily as possible.
• A new graphic image, adapted to the new corporate image of the Generalitat.

Production method of the web site

This web site is produced by the Network Information Management Unit ( Unitat de Gestió de la Informació en Xarxa) of the Department of Health , with the technical collaboration of Uli Hake and his DOM&M program. The web site is designed in accordance with the style criteria of the www.gencat.cat   portal, as approved through the Government Agreement of 8 January of 2003, in which common graphic design elememts are established in order to maintain a corporate image for the Generalitat.
